What Is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, yet powerful Japanese healing technique that promotes emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. The word Reiki (霊気) combines “Rei” (spiritual or universal) and “Ki” (life energy), meaning “universal life force energy.”
Reiki was developed in 1922 by Mikao Usui, a Japanese spiritual seeker, after a profound experience during meditation and fasting on Mount Kurama. His teachings were rooted in simplicity, spiritual development, and the ability to channel healing energy through hands-on or distance techniques.
Unlike Western adaptations, Traditional Japanese Reiki places deep emphasis on spiritual growth, energy sensitivity, breathwork, and meditation—connecting you to the original intention behind Reiki practice.
What You’ll Learn in This Reiki Program
Shoden (Level 1) – The Beginning of Reiki
Shoden means “first teachings.” At this level, you learn to:
- Understand the history and principles of Reiki
- Awaken your healing ability through Reiju (attunement)
- Perform hands-on healing for yourself and others
- Practice energy scanning, cleansing, and grounding techniques
- Cultivate awareness of Ki through meditation and breathwork
- Integrate Reiki into your daily life for emotional and physical balance
Okuden (Level 2) – Deepening Your Practice
Okuden means “inner teachings.” This level takes your healing to a deeper level:
- Learn and activate three sacred Reiki symbols for deeper energy work
- Perform distance healing and send Reiki across space and time
- Strengthen intuition, mental clarity, and energetic boundaries
- Explore deeper emotional healing and intention-based practices
- Receive advanced Reiju for expanded energetic capacity
